Acquisition Division
The Acquisition Division acquires equipment to be operated by the three services of the New Zealand Defence Force - the Royal New Zealand Navy, the New Zealand Army, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force, generally where the value of the project is in excess of NZ$7 million.
The Acquisition Division's projects commence with a user requirement developed by the customer (the New Zealand Defence Force). Thereafter, the Division is responsible for the total life cycle of the acquisition process. This includes: obtaining all Government approvals, developing the acquisition strategy, preparing documentation, the tendering and evaluation process, contract management and project management, through to the end of warranty phase.
The Acquisition Division maintains ISO9001 certification.
The Division is headed by the Acting Deputy Secretary of Defence (Acquisition) Kevin McMahon pending a permanent appointment to this position.
