Description
To acquire a Training/Light Utility Helicopter to replace the Sioux helicopter with a capability that meets the New Zealand Defence Force's contemporary needs.
Government approval
In April 2009, the Government approved a project budget of NZ$139.26 million excluding GST.
Contract
A contract was signed with Augusta Westland in May 2008 for five operational helicopters.
Current status
The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in late 2010.
Training of aircrew and maintainers will be conducted in Italy in late 2010.
The last aircraft is scheduled for delivery in mid 2011.
