Description
To acquire a Training/Light Utility Helicopter to replace the Sioux helicopter with a capability that meets the New Zealand Defence Force's contemporary needs.
Government approval
In April 2008, the Government approved a project budget of NZ$139.26 million excluding GST.
Contract
A contract was signed with AgustaWestland in May 2008 for five operational helicopters.
Current status
All five operational helicopters and the spare aircraft have been delivered to the RNZAF.
- Helicopter NZ3401 is at RNZAF Base Ohakea's Helicopter Transition Unit.
- Helicopter NZ3402 is at RNZAF Base Ohakea's Helicopter Transition Unit.
- Helicopter NZ3403 is at RNZAF Base Ohakea's Helicopter Transition Unit.
- Helicopter NZ3404 is at RNZAF Base Ohakea's Helicopter Transition Unit.
- Helicopter NZ3405 is at RNZAF Base Ohakea's Helicopter Transition Unit.
- Helicopter NZ3406 is in storage at RNZAF Base Ohakea as a source of spares.
- The Flight Training Device is at RNZAF Base Ohakea supporting training.
