Category C: Award of Excellence to Industry – New Zealand based Subcontractors to Overseas Prime Contractors

This category recognises New Zealand suppliers who have provided overseas prime contractors with a high level of service and provided the New Zealand Defence Force, through the prime, with exceptional outcomes to the contract.

Category C Winner

Marops Limited – Marops was contracted by CarteNav Solutions of Canada to be the in country agents for installation of some very sophisticated survey and reconnaissance software in Royal New Zealand Air Force P3 aircraft.

Considerable skill was required for this project, and much hard work. A key feature of it was the speed of response, as they took advantage of having a northern hemisphere prime contractor and were able to achieve 24 hour turnaround for problems that arose during the course of installation and testing. As a direct result of this work Marops has been contracted to carry out similar work for the Royal Australian Air Force.

The assessment panel considered that Marops has made a particular effort to match their project staff to the Royal New Zealand Air Force needs, and been very proactive throughout the project. Marops has developed a strong relationship with the prime contractor which will provide exceptional service for the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the future as the P3 fleet is upgraded. The prime contractors regard Marops as performing exceptionally well, which is why they were chosen to implement the Royal Australian Air Force project.
