The Royal New Zealand Navy
Organisational Structure of the Royal New Zealand Navy
The Royal New Zealand Navy is headed by the Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral D. I. Ledson, ONZM, who reports to the Chief of Defence Force.
The Chief of Navy is responsible for Naval Staff (Wellington) which is made up of:
- Navy Excellence
- Navy Corporate Relations
- Financial Advisor (Navy), Coordination
- Personnel
- Capability
- Inspector General (Navy)
- Corporate Audit.
Chief of Navy has oversight of the Maritime Component Commander at Headquarters Joint Forces New Zealand.
The Maritime Component Commander is responsible for:
- the Naval Combat Forces
- the Naval Support Forces
- the Mine Countermeasures
- Diving and Diving Support Forces
- the Hydrographic Forces.
The Chief of Navy is also responsible for the Deputy Chief of Navy.
The Deputy Chief of Navy is responsible for Naval Support Command (Auckland), which is made up of:
- HMNZS Philomel (Naval Base)
- Fleet Support
- Fleet Personnel and Training
- Joint Geospatial Support Facility
- Hydrographic Business Unit.
The Deputy Chief of Navy is also responsible for the Reserve Establishments, which is made up of
- HMNZS Ngapona (Auckland)
- HMNZS Olphert (Wellington)
- HMNZS Pegasus (Christchurch)
- HMNZS Toroa (Dunedin).
