The Royal New Zealand Air Force
The Organisational Structure of the Royal New Zealand Air Force
The Royal New Zealand Air Force is headed by the Chief of Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal J. H. S. Hamilton, ONZM, MVO, who reports to the Chief of Defence Force.
The Air Force is separated in five sections:
- Air Staff
- Personnel
- Logistics
- Training
- Bases/Support Services.
All of these sections are overseen by the Chief of Air Force.
The Air Staff section is headed by the Office of Deputy Chief of Air Force (Wellington) and consists of:
- Plans
- Development
- Resources
- Inspector General (Air)
- Internal Audit (Air).
The Personnel section consists of:
- Policy
- Recruiting
- Career Management and Administration.
The Logistics section consists of:
- Policy
- Base Logistics Wing which are in:
- Auckland
- Ohakea
- Woodbourne
- Aeronautical which consist of:
- Engineering
- Supply
- Procurement
The Training section consists of:
- The Ground Training Wing
- The Flying Training Wing which is made up of:
- No. 42 Squadron King Air
- Pilot Training Squadron CT-4E Airtrainer
- Central Flying School CT-4E Airtrainer.
The Bases/Support Services section consists of:
- Air Base Wings which are located in:
- Auckland
- Ohakea
- Woodbourne
- Communications and Information
- Facilities Management (Air).
The Chief of Air Force also has oversight of the Air Component Commander at HQ JFNZ.
The Air Component Commander is responsible for the No 485 Wing RNZAF at Whenuapai, which is made up of:
- No. 5 Squadron (Whenuapai) Orion
- No. 3 Squadron (Ohakea) Iroquois/Sioux and Seasprite (3) (Whenuapai)
- No. 40 Squadron (Whenuapai) C–130 Hercules/Boeing 757
- Operational Support Squadron (Auckland)
