Martyn Dunne

Martyn Dunne was appointed as Comptroller of Customs and Chief Executive of the New Zealand Customs Service in September 2004.

Prior to this appointment, Martyn spent 27 years in the New Zealand Defence Force, most recently as Commander Joint Forces New Zealand in the rank of Major General. In this role, he was responsible for the New Zealand Defence Forces operations and training.

Martyn has had significant international experience working in a broad range of strategic and operational environments, alongside foreign governments and international agencies.

Martyn was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2000 following his service in East Timor. He holds an MA in Strategic Studies from La Trobe University, Melbourne.
