Climate change
The accelerating impacts of climate change are having fundamental effects on global security, and are being felt early and deeply in the Pacific.
Climate change is causing more extreme weather patterns and increasing numbers of climate-related natural disasters, and is most acutely affecting states less equipped to respond.
The direct human security impacts of climate change will increasingly intersect with, and exacerbate, national security challenges. For some countries, including in the Pacific, the threat is existential.
