The Defence Policy Review aims to ensure that New Zealand’s defence policy, strategy, and planned capability investments remain fit for purpose. It will set a long-term strategy for how we respond to the challenges we face.

Procuring defence capabilities and training the personnel of our Defence Force takes time. We need to have the right force design and buy the right equipment to support the work we ask our defence personnel to do both now and in the future.

That’s why we need to look further ahead and develop a strategy and policy settings that support what we need to face the challenges identified.

Defence has commissioned Kantar(external link) to develop an online survey(external link) and produce a summary of feedback report.

The survey(external link) will be open until 4 April 2023. Responses are anonymous although comments you provide may be published in full. Please complete the survey only once.

We will invite members of the public to join our online webinars on 8 March and 9 March to hear from those leading this work, ask any question and provided feedback directly.

We will provide details around registering for these online webinars over the coming weeks.

If you’d like to get in touch, or have more to say once you’ve completed the survey, please email us at engage@defence.govt.nz
