Responding to the Climate Crisis: An Implementation Plan
The impacts of climate change are intensifying. In support of the wider New Zealand Government work programme on climate change, the Ministry of Defence and New Zealand Defence Force have taken a proactive approach in promoting global recognition of climate change as a security risk and integrating climate change into Defence activities and decision-making processes.

This Defence Climate Change Implementation Work Plan, titled Responding to the Climate Crisis: An Implementation Plan, puts actions to the recommendations from the 2018 Climate Crisis Defence Assessment. The Plan has been coproduced by the Ministry of Defence and Defence Force.
The Plan highlights Defence’s current efforts and commitments relating to climate change and how we will grow best practice and raise our ambition over time. It identifies the steps that Defence will take to ensure we are even more prepared for the challenges climate change will bring over the next decade.
