On 17 March 2026, the New Zealand Minister of Defence Hon Judith Collins KC and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Hon Richard Marles signed an updated Closer Defence Relations statement, called Operationalising the Australia - New Zealand Alliance: Anzac 2035 – Closer Defence Relations.
